"It’s never too late to get started"
Throughout my life, exercise was something I wanted to WANT to do unfortunately I just didn’t want to. I was overweight my whole life, either gaining or losing at any given time and all the insecurities that go along with that. I kept saying the usual things, I didn’t have time, exercise is boring, and I hate to run. You name it, I had the excuse.
When I was nearing 40, I had had enough of feeling like crap all the time. My daughter and I joined a local gym where we could go together. During that time, I lost weight, again, and although it took me a long time something inside my started to change. Part of my changing experience was meeting Jared, Now co-owner if Cross Fit Envy. I didn’t know it at the time but he was working Cross fit on me as well as encouraging me and helping me believe I could do it.
I had no Idea what to expect my first time at Cross Fit Envy, I was scared but I did it anyway and I have never looked back. I had no idea the impacted it would make in my life. Now, almost 5 years after starting any exercise at all, I’m the healthiest and the best shape I have been in EVER, I know what self-esteem feels like, I hold a level 1 Cross Fit Trainer Certificate and I am going back to school again majoring in Kinesiology/ Exercise Science.
I really want to help people who can relate to me, or may have had similar struggles, know that it’s never too late to get started. I am still new at all this and have a lot to learn but it’s a far cry from the girl who failed PE in high school three times because she wouldn’t even wear the shorts in front of people. I love what my friend Joanie said to me one day while we were doing back squats or something, “whose life is this?” It’s mine actually, and I love it.
